How to pick a theme
Brainstorm different theme ideas
Express your ideas to the class about the theme
Narrow down the best theme ideas
Create pros and cons of each theme
Theme:
Brainstorm theme ideas individually
Talk to a small group about your favorite ideas
As a class, talk about your favorite theme ideas that you and your group really liked
Vote as a class of your top 3 or 5 theme ideas
Then from there debate which theme idea should be the overall theme for the yearbook
Once that is decided, work on ways you could incorporate this theme into pages.
Tip
When picking a theme keep in mind that it needs to be present throughout the entire book
Deciding on a cover:
Everyone design a cover on a piece of paper or on their laptop that shows the theme of the yearbook
Put them around the room and have each person pick their top 3 favorite designs
Tally all the votes, and pick the top 5 most voted for out of that.
As a class, discuss what you like and didn’t of the top 5 covers
Each person give their input and how they think the design could be better.
Add changes accordingly to make the cover exactly how the class wants.
